This Privacy Policy explains how Rowel Co., a trade name of Cinder & Crown Creative LLC ("Rowel Co.", "we", "us"), collects, uses and shares personal information when you visit rowelco.com, buy from us, sign up for our emails or texts, or contact us (together, the "Services"). If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the Services.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Contact details: name, email address, phone number, billing and shipping addresses.
  • Order information: items bought, order notes, gift messages, returns and refunds.
  • Payment information: handled by our payment processors. We receive confirmation of payment and limited card details (such as card type and last four digits), not your full card number.
  • Account information: if you create an account, your login email and preferences.
  • Communications: messages, chat conversations, reviews, survey answers and anything else you send us.
  • Sign-up information: email, phone number and, if you choose to give it, your birthday.

Information collected automatically

  • Device and usage data: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, products viewed or added to cart, referring site, and approximate location derived from IP address.
  • Cookies, pixels and similar technologies: used to run the store (for example, to keep your cart), remember preferences, measure traffic and, if you allow it, to show you relevant ads. See Section 5.
  • Email and text engagement: whether our messages were delivered, opened or clicked.

Information from others

  • Makers and carriers: shipping status, tracking numbers and delivery confirmations.
  • Payment and fraud-prevention providers: payment status and fraud-risk signals.
  • Social and advertising platforms: if you interact with us on Instagram, Facebook, Google, YouTube, TikTok or Pinterest, we may receive information according to your settings on those platforms.

We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information such as government ID numbers, health information or precise geolocation.

2. How we use information

  • To process, fulfill, ship and support your orders, returns and refunds.
  • To send order confirmations, shipping updates and other service messages.
  • To send marketing emails and texts if you have agreed to receive them.
  • To answer questions and provide customer service.
  • To recommend products and personalize the Site, including recommendations generated by automated tools.
  • To measure and improve the Site, our catalog and our advertising.
  • To detect and prevent fraud, abuse and security problems.
  • To comply with law, enforce our Terms of Service and protect our rights and the rights of others.

3. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information for money. We share it only as follows:

  • Makers and brands that fulfill your order. Rowel Co. does not hold inventory. Each item ships directly from its maker, so we share the information needed to ship it: your name, shipping address, the items ordered and, where the carrier needs it, your phone number or email. Makers may use this information only to fulfill, ship, support and handle returns for your order.
  • Service providers that run the Services for us, under contract: our e-commerce platform and hosting provider, payment processors, fraud-prevention services, shipping carriers, email and text-message providers, customer-chat and review tools, and analytics providers.
  • Advertising and social-media partners (for example Meta, Google, TikTok and Pinterest), which receive device and activity data through cookies and pixels to measure and show ads. Under some state laws this may count as a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for targeted advertising. You can opt out. See Section 6.
  • Accelerated checkout providers. If you pay with a wallet such as Shop Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay or PayPal, that provider receives your information under its own privacy policy.
  • Legal and safety. To comply with law, respond to lawful requests, protect against fraud, or protect the rights, property or safety of Rowel Co., our customers or others.
  • Business transfers. If our business, or the Rowel Co. trade name and store, is sold, merged or transferred, personal information may be transferred to the new owner under this policy.
  • With your consent or at your direction.

4. Text messages (SMS)

If you sign up for Rowel Co. texts, you agree to receive recurring automated marketing text messages from Rowel Co. at the number you provide. Consent is not a condition of purchase. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe at any time, or HELP for help. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

We do not share or sell your mobile number or text-message opt-in information with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing. We share it only with the service providers that send our messages.

5. Cookies, pixels and your choices

We use strictly necessary cookies to run the store, and, where you allow it, analytics and marketing cookies and pixels. Visitors in locations that require consent will see a cookie banner where you can accept or decline. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser; some parts of the Site, such as the cart, may not work without them.

We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for targeted advertising, for the browser sending the signal. Our Site does not respond to "Do Not Track" signals.

You can also limit ads through your settings on Meta, Google and other platforms, and through industry tools such as optout.aboutads.info.

6. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live (including California, Texas, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Oregon and other U.S. states with privacy laws), you may have the right to:

  • know and access the personal information we hold about you, and get a portable copy;
  • correct inaccurate personal information;
  • delete personal information;
  • opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising;
  • opt out of profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects (we do not do this);
  • not be treated differently for using your rights.

How to use your rights:

  • Opt out of sale, sharing or targeted advertising: visit Your Privacy Choices, or turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser.
  • Access, correction or deletion: email cinderandcrown@gmail.com with the subject "Privacy request."

We will verify your request by matching information you give us with information we hold, and we respond within the time the law requires (generally 45 days). You may use an authorized agent; we may ask for proof the agent is authorized. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision with the subject "Privacy appeal"; we will respond to appeals within the time the law requires. If your appeal is denied, you may contact your state attorney general.

Marketing emails include an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing does not stop order and service messages.

7. AI and automated tools

We use software tools, including AI tools, to help write product descriptions and articles, recommend products, sort customer messages and draft replies. These tools do not make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects. If you chat with us, replies may be assisted by automated tools; you can always ask for a person.

8. How long we keep information

We keep personal information as long as needed for the purposes above: order records for as long as tax, accounting and legal rules require; marketing lists until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your information; and other data only as long as it is useful for running the Services. Then we delete or de-identify it.

9. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards, and our payment processors are PCI-compliant. No method of transmission or storage is fully secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please use a strong, unique password for your account.

10. Children

The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Knives and blades are sold only to buyers 18 or older. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it. We do not sell or share the personal information of consumers we know are under 16.

11. Location

We are based in the United States, and the Services are intended for people in the United States. Information is stored and processed in the United States and in other countries where our service providers operate.

12. Third-party sites

The Site may link to sites and platforms we do not control. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We will post the new version here with a new "Last updated" date, and notify you of material changes where the law requires.
